Bougie Doozy Candles History

Bougie Doozy Candles has its design roots in 1960s California west coast bohemian culture. W. Nelson, a U.S. ex-patriot, wax genius and inventor, first taught then-19-year-old Bruce Langer the original Doozy technique in Toronto's funky Queen Street West district. Mr. Nelson continues his collaboration with Doozy to this day, in his role as R&D Consultant.

Doozy founders Bruce Langer and Greg Brayford have known each other for 32 years. They believe in a traditional way of handling business affairs - generating strong and lasting business relationships through fair and honest dealings.

The first Doozy boutique opened in 1999 on Bronson Avenue in the renovated Ottawa Folklore Centre. Doozy relocated to Chelsea, QC in 2003, where it became Bougie Doozy Candle. Its current quarters combine both the Doozy factory and retail outlet, as well as space where the work of other local artisans is displayed and sold.
